Notes from Windward: #65

Homer

by Alicia

Pia checks in on Homer

One of our lambs died. His name was Homer. We think he died because he had a bad leg and wasn't getting enough to eat.

He was one of the first lambs to be born. His sister Jennifer, and Little Bit and Son who were also some of the first born lambs, miss him.

[Walt: Alicia's twelve, and has gotten quite attached to the animals that make up a notable portion of Windward's daily life. Way back when most kids were raised in an agricultural setting, being a part of the birthing, and the dying, was an experience which helped children learn about life. Now-a-days, it's Disney DVDs and video games, and kids are the worse off for the change. <sigh>]
